What is Dance & Movement Therapy?
- What is Dance & Movement Therapy for?
- Expressing feelings and strengthening body awareness through movement and dance
- Is Dance & Movement Therapy legally regulated?
- Not a separate legally regulated health profession. Training via specialised institutes and professional associations.
- Does Dance & Movement Therapy treat illnesses?
- No independent curative treatment. Used complementarily.
Dance and movement therapy works with emotional topics through movement, physical expression and dance. It assumes that body and mind are closely connected and uses movement to express feelings, release tension and strengthen body awareness.
It is used complementarily, for example with psychological strain, trauma, psychosomatic complaints, in developmental support and in work with people with disabilities.
No dance experience is needed; it is not about technique but about expression and experience.
